Understanding Climate Change through Journalism (UCCJ)

The objective of this project is two way. One, it seeks to bring to light challenges arising from climate change and climate variability that are faced by rural smallholder farmers in Uganda by empowering rural-based journalists to report effectively on these challenges. This should influence policy making and implementation at lower levels and at national level. Two, the journalists’ ability to comprehend climate change information will also enable them communicate appropriate adaptation strategies, techniques and technologies to their communities. This project equips journalists in eastern, northern and western Uganda with science journalism and science communication skills. It is also establishing regional networks of science journalists in Uganda. This project is supported by Internews and the Oak Foundation through the Earth Journalism Network (EJN)
